Discover Holland and Belgium with our targeted tours
Exploring Europe is often one of the things people have on their travel 'to-do' lists, but with so much to see, it can be difficult to know where to start. Anderson Tours believes it has the answer with its Holland and Belgium coach tours.
The luxury tours take in the Dutch capital of Amsterdam, the nearby village of Monnickendam and the Belgian city of Bruges, as well as a scenic coach journey through southern England, France, Belgium and The Netherlands.
While the main focus of the trip is the guided tour of Amsterdam and optional boat ride along the canal, there are also opportunities to explore the picturesque village of Monnickendam and the medieval city of Bruges in the ample free time given to those on the tour.
As well as return luxury coach and ferry travel, the tour package also includes two nights' accommodation at a lakeside hotel in Monnickendam. Guests will be treated to breakfast and a tasty three-course meal in the evening. Those not heading out into Amsterdam for a night out can also take advantage of the free bar, which serves beer, wine, gin and brandy from 20:30 until 23:00 local time.
A local bus can take tourists into the city, which is approximately half an hour away, where they can explore its famous night life.
However, the guided tour and free time in Amsterdam the following day might encourage tourists to get out and see Monnickendam, which is famous for its smoked fish.
Located on the shore of Lake Ijsselmeer, the village is the perfect place to relax after a long day exploring the historic city.
Even after leaving The Netherlands, there is still a visit to the historic city of Bruges to look forward to. Intrepid tourists can wander the cobblestone streets of the 2002 European City of Culture, taking in its medieval architecture and attractions that helped it get onto the Unesco World Heritage Site list.
The city is a great place to pick up specialist products such as lace and chocolate, while many visitors to Holland buy clogs and cheese.
Or how about a Belgium Christmas markets break?
Another seasonal tour we run is the Belgium Christmas markets Break, which is the perfect choice for those looking to enjoy a weekend away that still allows them to pick up all they need for the festive season.
Those taking this trip might want to take an empty suitcase with them as it will see them visit four beautiful Belgian towns and a number of markets in one weekend.
Stops in Bruges, Brussels, Ostend and Antwerp will see visitors treated to a plethora of illuminations and live entertainment.
On the shopping front, they can pick up some of Belgium's famous beers, chocolate, waffles and fries, as well as numerous other traditional and more modern Christmas gifts.
Bruges is beautiful during the festive season, with its mediaeval cobbled streets illuminated with Christmas lights and a large seasonal market located in the main square.
Meanwhile the capital city of Brussels offers its famous Winter Wonderland attraction on the Place Sainte Catherine and the Grand Palace's renowned festive decorations.
Ostend also fills its main square with festive cheer and revellers can do their Christmas shopping to beats laid down by a DJ while they sup on mulled wine and delicious local foods.
Finally, Antwerp's medieval streets and renaissance monuments are worth a visit at the best of times, but the city offers something special at Christmas.
Visitors can check out the popular Grote Market, as well as the unfinished wonder that is the Cathedral of Our Lady, which has been under construction for more than 650 years.
