About Brugge:
Brugge is made up of winding cobblestone streets and narrow cannals which gave the city the prestigious award of the "European City of Culture" in 2002. Also known as Burges, this city has most of its medieval architecture intact and thus has been a World Heritage Site since 2000. Brugge is known for its lace, and many beers include the name of the city. The Flemish painter Jan Van Eyck was born in Brugge as well!

 Things to do and see:

The Markt: Most of the sites of Brugge are around the city square, so why not start here! Surrounded by restaurants, cafes and medieval architecture. Make sure to see the Belfry which is the bell tower of the town. If you feel inclined, climb the 366 steps to the top to see a different view of Brugge!

Groeninge Museum: Stop by here to see a wealth of Flemish artwork, including two notalbe works by Jan Van Eyck.

Church of Our Lady: Not only is this church an attraction because of its beautiufl architecture and the fact that it's the highest point in Brugge, but inside is Michelangleo's "Madonna and Child" sculpture. The sculpture was taken by foreign occupiers twice in the last few centuries, but, the "Madonna and Child" is currently safely in the Church of our Lady!

Minnewater: Known as "the lake of love,"  this cannalized lake offers a beautiful panoramic view of this pristine city. Quite practically, it was created to keep the water level of the canals constant. But now it is a sort of entrance into the the Minnewater park and where you'll find several swans, one of the symbols of Brugge, in and around the lake.
